Building a Better Boyertown with Wicked Effects Present, 9th Annual “150th Anniversary” Cruise Night, July 16th 2016, 4 – 9 PM

July 7, 2016, Boyertown, PA:  Come out and Cruise Reading Ave on July 16th for Cruise Night.  In the past years, Building a Better Boyertown (BBB) has hosted a series of community events on the 3rd Saturday of each month. With the permission of the Borough of Boyertown, BBB’s 9th Annual Cruise Night will hit the streets of Boyertown on July 16, 2016, with a rain date of July 23, 2016.

In continued celebration of the Boyertown Sesquicentennial, Anniversary flags will be handed out to the first 100 registered vehicles who will also receive discounted drink tickets from Iezzi’s Tavern.  Along with a DJ, you can also hear live music in front of St. Johns Church performed by Curt Sheller from Funky Frets.   This year’s awards will be chosen by the people, with registered cars owners and attendees receiving a ballot to vote for your favorite best of show for over seven different categories.

The main sponsor of the event is Quigley Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Boyertown, PA.  Visitors are encouraged to stroll throughout all of our historic community, and those who wish to tour the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles will receive discounts into the car museum. While at the museum you can enjoy some refreshing Ice Cream from the classic Mr. Softee Ice Cream Truck, parked at the newly restored Getty Station, 61 S. Reading Ave., Boyertown, PA 19512. With several new business openings in the last year located right on Reading Avenue there will be lots to do and see.  Check out the new FireFly café, Simply Sherry’s bakery, Boyertown Secret’s and Collectables and so much more.  This is going to be a nostalgic Cruise night!

Cruise Night will take place along Route 562/Reading Avenue and the parking lots of BB&T (formally National Penn Bank), Good Sheppard Church, St. John’s Church and the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles.  Registration opens at 3 pm and will be in the back parking lot of Good Shepherd Church, where you enter off of N. Walnut Street.  Reading Avenue will be closed from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm, from the intersection of Third Street to Philadelphia Avenue and Route 73 and Fifth Street to Philadelphia Avenue/Route 73.  Detour directions will be posted, and Philadelphia Avenue will remain open.  Alternate parking for spectators will be available in the Town Center parking lot and along Walnut Street, East Philadelphia Avenue and the 100 block of N. Reading Avenue.

Last year we had over 250 cars participate and over 750 spectators attend the Car show in Downtown Boyertown! We invite you to come out to see the beautiful cars parked under the Victorian street lights, walk-friendly sidewalks and restoration improvements in downtown Boyertown.    If you have any questions or would like to participate in this event, please contact Building a Better Boyertown office at 610.369.3054 or promotions@boyertownpa.org.
