Welcome to Building a Better Boyertown

Building a Better Boyertown (BBB) is a non-profit organization formed in 2002. Boyertown, PA is a Main Street Community, received funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and private donors to focus on downtown revitalization.

BBB staff and volunteers develop and accomplish tasks that maintain Boyertown’s historical heritage, promote downtown Boyertown and attract people to the community. They concentrate on business recruitment and retention and on providing technical assistance and grant opportunities for property and business owners in the Main Street District to make facade improvements enhancing the town's Victorian architecture.

Overall, Boyertown's approach to revitalization is comprehensive in nature. We are always looking for fresh faces and ideas to help us achieve our goals. Come join us, and the fun!

Sstudiobtudio B Summer Hours are:

Fridays 11-3: July 10, 17, 24, 31
Saturdays 11-3: July 11, 18, 25

We have a busy month, some new initiatives and new directions—Art Parties, Writers’ Events, for example—in addition to our regular features—Jean Esther’s art classes, Bob Wood’s popular Good Old Days talks, and the new exhibit ART Attack.

Boyertown Senior High School art instructor Thomas Dareneau is looking to run a five-day day camp “Happy to Be Me in Boyertown during July 13-17. He’s inviting children 7-17, their parents if desired, and any interested adults to explore some of Boyertown’s iconic sites and then return to the studio to create works of art too capture the essence of Boyertown today.

The camp will culminate in a student-curated exhibition on Friday evening, July 17, 2015, from 5-7 p.m. What will Boyertown’s Contemporary Monument look like? We have no idea! Should be fun. Please share an invitation to participate in this unique art experience with your network. Monday-Thursday 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Friday 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. and 5:00 -7:00 p.m. ($185 + $10 for materials/child)

Jean Esther continues his Wednesday and Thursday group art lessons. His groups are growing.

On Monday mornings Melissa Strawser is offering Young Printmakers Workshops.

Monday evenings Suzanne Fellows is offering painting classes to get folks started or to offer “fixes” in painting with acrylics. Both Jean and artist Suzanne are offering private lessons in drawing, painting. And Suzanne is offering ukulele lessons. How fun!

On Tuesday, July 14, 2015, Kim Lewis is offering a workshop on creating bracelets stamped with your favorite saying.

On Thursdays, Jill Prout welcomes folks to Breakfast Yoga from 8:30-9:30 a.m.

On Sunday, July 19, 2015, from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m., a Poetry/Prose Reading will feature local writers who will read some of their own work or work they love. This writing event is being coordinated by Marilyn Klimcho of Berks Bards. Bob Wood is host for the event.

For WRITERS: Beginning on Thursday, July 23, 2015, 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Lesley Misko will guide participants in recalling and recording details of life’s precious moments and then “make time” for writing and sharing. I myself love to write, but never carve out time in my life to do so! Come and write with us!

In the gallery through August is ART Attack, featuring over 160 pieces of art from 70 artists. We’re hosting a closing reception for this show on August 21, 2015, from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

Bob Wood continues his series of Thursday History talks through July and August that he’s entitled  “Encore Presentations.” He draws folks from all over and convinces us that our promotional efforts are effective to an ever-widening audience. (Thanks always especially to Emily and Joan for their work getting the word out and about.)

As you know, we very much appreciate your support of Studio B and our local fine artists through your volunteer efforts. We couldn’t run this place without your help! ~Jane
