Building a Better Boyertown (BBB) is a non-profit organization formed in 2002. Boyertown, PA is a Main Street Community, received funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and private donors to focus on downtown revitalization.
BBB staff and volunteers develop and accomplish tasks that maintain Boyertown’s historical heritage, promote downtown Boyertown and attract people to the community. They concentrate on business recruitment and retention and on providing technical assistance and grant opportunities for property and business owners in the Main Street District to make facade improvements enhancing the town's Victorian architecture.
Overall, Boyertown's approach to revitalization is comprehensive in nature. We are always looking for fresh faces and ideas to help us achieve our goals. Come join us, and the fun!
Chair person of the Oktoberfest Committee and former BBB Board Member Shannon Anthony has been awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award last week by the Pennsylvania Downtown Center at the annual Townie Awards.
Shannon has been an avid volunteer for Building A Better Boyertown, logging an average of 40 hours volunteering per week in 2013. As Chairperson of the Oktoberfest committee, Shannon has brought the event to a whole new level by expanding the event to two days and creating new aspects of the event. Shannon has been instrumental in recruiting new volunteers and sponsors for the event.
Aside from her Oktoberfest duties, Shannon owns her own business in Downtown Boyertown and volunteers at many of the other events throughout the year. She served on the board for Building A Better Boyertown from 2009 until 2013. While serving on the board she served as promotions chair person. “As a dedicated board member, Shannon has been the key driver to the organizations promotional efforts.” – Adrianne Blank , Manager of Building A Better Boyertown.

Good Shepherd Church currently hosts several community groups, such as the Relay For Life monthly meetings, a Boy Scout troop, a book sale for the Community Library, and others. The Mission Task Team at Good Shepherd is looking for opportunities to open the church to additional groups, if there is a need. The Team thought the BBB might know of groups looking for a place to meet, this could be it! We can accommodate larger groups, or groups that need lots of space for activities. There is also a kitchen adjacent to the hall available for use.
